Commentaries on
Shakespeare’s History Plays
Shakespeare, William. Edward III. (The New Oxford Shakespeare: The Complete Works, Modern Critical Edition. 477-542.)
*Note: the Oxford editors say attribution scholarship suggests that of the play’s 18 scenes, Shakespeare wrote Scene 2.90-627, Scene 3, and probably Scene 12. Edward III was published anonymously in 1596, but was not included in seventeenth-century Shakespeare folios. The other author, say the Oxford editors, might have been Kyd, Marlowe, or Peele.
